Continuing Lions' long-standing tradition as "Knights of the Blind," our vision care projects help detect, prevent, and treat vision problems in our community.
Our club conducts free vision screenings for children and adults throughout the year. Using state-of-the-art equipment, we help detect potential vision problems early, when treatment is most effective.
We collect and recycle used eyeglasses, which are cleaned, repaired, and distributed to people in need around the world. Collection boxes are located throughout Wales and Genesee.
For community members who cannot afford eye care, we provide financial assistance for eye exams, glasses, and in some cases, specialized treatments.
Annual Screenings: 500+ individuals
Eyeglasses Collected: 1,200+ pairs annually
Financial Assistance: $10,000+ provided
Schools Served: All local elementary schools
We believe no one in our community should go hungry. Our hunger relief projects provide food and support to those in need.
We regularly collect and donate food items to local food pantries, with major drives during the holidays and summer months when school meal programs are unavailable.
Once a month, our Lions volunteer to prepare and serve meals at the community center, providing nutritious food and fellowship to anyone in need.
For families facing crisis situations, we provide emergency food assistance through grocery store gift cards and direct aid.

We're committed to protecting and preserving our environment for future generations through active conservation efforts.
Quarterly clean-up events focused on parks, waterways, and public spaces in Wales and Genesee. We provide supplies and organize volunteer teams to remove litter and improve natural areas.
Our annual tree planting program has added hundreds of native trees to public spaces, schools, and parks, helping improve air quality and wildlife habitat.
We provide educational resources and programs to local schools and community groups about the importance of recycling and waste reduction.

Investing in the youth of our community is investing in our future. Our youth programs provide education, opportunities, and support for young people.
Each year, we award multiple scholarships to graduating seniors from local high schools who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and community service.
We sponsor the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools, encouraging young artists to express their vision of peace and fostering international understanding.
Through mentoring, workshops, and sponsorship of youth-led community service projects, we help develop the next generation of community leaders.

Our service extends to many other areas of community need through these important initiatives.
When natural disasters or emergencies strike our community, we provide immediate assistance including food, shelter, clothing, and financial support to affected families.
We honor those who have served our country through various programs including care package delivery, home repairs, and social events for veterans and their families.
Through educational programs, screenings, and support groups, we work to increase awareness about diabetes prevention and management in our community.
Our ongoing beautification projects include flower planting, park improvements, and maintenance of community spaces throughout Wales and Genesee.
We assist senior citizens through home visits, assistance with errands and home maintenance, and social events designed to reduce isolation and foster community.
Helping bridge the digital divide by providing computer equipment, internet access assistance, and technology training to underserved community members.
As part of Lions Clubs International, our service extends beyond our local community to address global challenges.
We contribute to LCIF, which provides grant funding for large-scale humanitarian projects worldwide, including disaster relief, vision care, and youth initiatives.
Through our partnership with a Lions Club in Canada, we exchange ideas, collaborate on projects, and strengthen international friendship.
We align our local service with Lions' global causes: vision, hunger, environment, childhood cancer, and diabetes to maximize our collective impact.
